Attending 1.5 days (Thursday morning and all day Friday) of the Hide Tanning Camp at Chippewa of the Thames, with Izzy and Emily, was an incredible experience.
The chance to immerse myself in a traditional practice and being welcomed not only by Albert Doxtator, who was running the event, but also by everyone who attended felt wonderful. Learning the stories/teachings provided, the ways Indigenous communities use all the parts of an animal, and being allowed to contribute to the creating of the hide felt a way that I am not sure how to put into words.
